  2. To prepare the dough, take sifted wheat flour and pour vegetable oil and hot saltwater into it in a thin stream, mix with a spoon. Knead the dough well with your hands for at least 15 minutes. Let the dough rest in a dish covered with a towel for about 20 minutes.
  3. Divide the dough into several pieces. Roll each piece out to about 5 mm thick with a rolling pin. Use a pastry cutter or a glass to cut out circles 5-7 cm in diameter, or shape them by hand to create a base for the filling.
  4. Place 4-6 cherries in the center of each dough circle, then fold and press the edges together to seal.
  5. Pour water into a saucepan, add a pinch of salt, and bring it to a boil. Drop the cherry pierogies into the boiling water and cook for 20 minutes.
  6. Carefully remove the pierogies from the boiling water, drain the water from them. Put a piece of butter on top and sprinkle with sugar. Serve the sour cream.
